I started Judo at a young age, followed by Karate.
After I joined the Royal Netherlands Navy, I started Aikido, followed by Ju Jitsu and Aiki Jujitsu.
I started training Judo again within the Navy. At a later stage I became a Kyusho Jitsu/Dim Mak instructor,
which is the art and science of deadly pressure point fighting, an art already used in Aiki Jujitsu
from several hundred of years ago.
In 1991, after a nine month course, I passed my exams and became a certified martial arts
instructor and received a government recognised diploma.
In 2003 I was offered a job as an exchange officer in the Royal Navy. In 2004 I started a dojo in HMS Collingwood. In 2007 I retired from the Royal Netherlands Navy after 33 years of active service, and started my martial arts club Budo Society Musashi in Plymouth, and at the same time at HMS Drake and HMS Raleigh.
I still teach at HMS Raleigh. HMS Drake and Naval College in Dartmouth.
I am regularly invited to teach at seminars in Germany, Denmark and Holland.
